Description
This 6-inch cleaver features a rectangular blade for breaking down large cuts of meat and cutting through bone.
ZWILLING Pro boasts a unique curved bolster that acts as an extension of the hand, supporting the professional pinch grip, with thumb and index finger on the blade, for safe cutting and less fatigue. The blade was designed with a broad curve in the front to facilitate the rocking motion of Western cutting, while the straight back is ideal for the chopping motion Japanese knives were designed for. The full length of the blade can be used when cutting and can be sharpened from bolster to tip.

Breaking down a chicken? No problem!This is an excellent cleaver for those who really like to get in to the nitty-gritty of cooking. If you are like me, trained to believe that the best way to use a chicken is to start with a whole one, then this knife is worthy of your time.
It is part of the Pro line; it features an innovative design - and angled bolster for a firm pinch grip. It is thick and weighted so that when I bring it down on a chicken or lamb or even a pork rib bone, it goes right through. One stroke. I love it. I also love that it cleans up easily. Soap, water, dry and ready for the next use.
I would like one just a little bigger, otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars.

Falling in love with cooking again!Wow! That's all I have to say. I own my share of Shun and Wusthof knives, but was enticed to try our Zwillings heavy duty meat cleaver. What a beast! This thing is so solid in hand and I feel extra confident in getting through meat and bones without an issue. The moment I took it out of the package, I wanted to start chopping everything in sight. You will absolutely love this cleaver and the quality feel behind it. I have a feeling this will live up to every challenge I throw at it and more. Nice job Zwillings! You've got my attention away from japanese steel and back to the Germans!

DissappointedI received a dull meat cleaver. My Amazon meat cleaver $30 does a better job that this $199 sad cleaver. Extremely disappointing and mad. I attached pictures, first using Zwilling chef knife, then Zwilling meat cleaver unable to cut orange, then my Amazon meat cleaver for proof.

Cut AnythingThis is the most durable, hard core cleaver I have ever owned. It can go through a pork shoulder blade, a chicken back or even beef ribs. This is one item that you thought you didn't need but when you finally get it you'll ask yourself what did I ever do with out it.
Solid all the way through.

This cleaver is certainly built for deconstruction!
I make my own dog food and this tool has made a not so pleasant chore a lot easier to handle.
Goes through Chicken and beef bone like it's butter.
Glad I brought this knife into my kitchen...it was well worth the money!

Although I feel it could be a tad bit heavier, it gets the job done. A nice strong arm and clean cut right through bone in a cinch. I love Asian BBQ chicken on the bone, and I never have any issues chopping it up with this meat cleaver.

Like A BossPerfect knife for cutting through bones and tendons. Easily break down a chicken or slab of ribs. Comes in handy for cutting hard butternut squash and smashing garlic. Pro curved bolster promotes pinch grip for safety and control.
is this cleaver able (hard enough) to chop coconut ? or suitable for this task?

what is best to sharpen and maintane the cleaver? i have both of the cleavers, the meat and the vegetable. they're starting to get dull and the meat cleaver's edge needs some love.

I have an 18pc Pro S series knife block and need a cleaver. Will this Cleaver fit in the block or is there another one that was made for that series?

We do not have a cleaver specific to the Professional "S" line, but most of our knife blocks cannot accomodate cleavers.

This cleaver can cut through chicken and other poultry bones, though it is not recommended for thicker bones like pork, beef, or lamb.
