How long should a 2 month old nap? I have a 6 month old baby boy who will nap for 2-3 hours most days and I would like to know how long should a 2 month old baby nap? I have a 6 month old baby boy who will nap for 2-3 hours most days and I would like to know how long should a 2 month old baby nap? I have a 7 month old baby girl who is just starting out and naps frequently, but I feel like I spend way too much time trying to get her to nap early (i.e. 10:30am -> 11:15am -> 12:45pm) and not enough time putting her down (i.e. naps are usually between 2-3 hours max). I’m just wondering if I should be trying to get her to nap earlier, or should I wait until she is older (like, say, 3 or 4 months old) and become more patient with her (i.e. sleep more, breastfeed more, etc)? I’m just trying to figure out if I should be trying to get her to nap as early as possible (1:45 am) and putting her down as soon as possible (2:15 am) to get her to nap 3-4 hours straight, but then spend more time trying to get her to nap later (3:30 am) and later (4:30 am) if at all possible. Am I missing something?
My 3 month old just started this new habit of only sleeping when I am home. When I went to pick him up from daycare he woke up at 7:30 am, and now he wants to sleep whenever he can. I tried to teach him to fall asleep on his own, so he doesn’t have to go to daycare, and he still wants to sleep when I am home, but he doesn’t like going down to bed (was hoping maybe he would sleep on his own after I finished nursing or feeding, but he doesn’t). Should I continue trying this with other newborns until my baby is able to sleep anywhere near his bedtime (6:15 pm) without waking him? This has been going on since 2 months old is allowed to nap in her crib without a wake time being a problem?

How long should a 2 month old nap? Both experts agree on this one. While many parents are tempted to cut baby’s nap schedule down to just one at this point, experts say that would be a mistake. “Cutting baby’s nap schedule down to once a week is not healthy for either baby or baby’s brain,” Dr. Lonzer says. “It is also not realistic for a baby to nap every night.”
