Namibia has a total of 14 official beaches, but you will probably find a beach for whatever reason only on the mainland. The major cities have their own distinct sand beaches, but many resorts also have a mixture of sand and gravel beaches. Some even have a sand beach with a floating sand castle!

…and so on. The main beach of Swakopmund is called Burg ! That is the name given to the town by the Dutch East India Company (the company was abolished in 1895).
Does Namibia have a beach? Yes, but it’s in the south. The cold air from the Atlantic interferes with the formation of the warm air of the Namib, and the result is that the Namib has a very dry desert. Namibia has an average annual surface temperature of (-24C to +40C) and a maximum average temperature of 115-122°C. That means that as soon as you leave the cities, head to the coast and take a cruise ship to Reunion or Dunkirk. Depending on the cruise line, you can expect to spend between $10 and $20 extra on food and accommodation on the ship, depending on the destination. It’s a no-brainer. On the other hand, if you’re just looking for a little relaxation on your vacation, and don’t want to stray too far from the beaten track, then a beach isn’t the place for you. There are better places for relaxing after a hard day at the office. As we mentioned, the coast is much colder, and there are fewer wildlife. Also, it’s much easier driving in the dark when the roads are empty. The only issue might be that on longer trips, you may not have enough time to visit all the places.

Does Namibia have a beach? Yes they do. It is a much more remote area and there is less infrastructure. Most lodges organise all kinds of activities like safari rides or beach cruises in the late afternoon or early evening. However, most lodges aren’t doing much else than that. Most lodges in Namibia have limited ice cream, limited guns, and few if any restaurants. Most lodges don’t even have swimming pools!

NO MATTER WHAT, YOU CAN’T EXPERIENCE THE BEST OF SOUTH AFRICA ON THE BEACHES. SO WHY CUT THE BLOCK AND GO ON ANOTHER PLACE? Because…well, because it’s NAMIBIA. And NAMIBIA’s beach is amazing, but… well, you know… IT’s SOUTHEAST AFRICA, AND IT’S WHERE THE BIGGEST CONCERNED SPOTS ARE.
Does Namibia have a beach? No, but they do have a very good skiing and snowboarding circuit. Very good. Every single weekend. Namibia has some of the best powder on the planet, but especially in the southern parts. Cartwheeling winds and a high speed, white-sand beach have made it a popular family destination for several generations.
What is it about white sand beaches that attracts so many vacationers from all over the world? The combination of the warm, crystal waters and the close proximity to the ocean – Namibia has a perfect storm of sand, sand and ocean. The result is that Namibia has some of the best white sand beaches in the world, alongside superb skiing and snowboarding opportunities as well as a very active snowshoeing and sledging community.
Ski resorts and white sand beaches are certainly not for everyone, but for the price you can’t beat it.
