How much should wedding decorations cost? $100 is nothing compared to $15,000 for a full house. I mean come on guys, $100 isn’t that much. But if you have 15,000 guests it’s more.
I have been to beautiful weddings where the dress was just a drop in the bucket compared to the jewelry and decorations. People went way over budget on their wedding. I guess it’s because they’ve been conditioned to think that way. I hate how you say “we all say how much we want our wedding, but I actually really don’t know how you spend my money.” I spend way more on my house, car, vacations, grad school, etc. I live with my parents and they feed me and take care of my younger sister. I work full time and don’t have debt from where I earned it. My parents are very happy with the way things turned out and I don’t want to start all over.
I get tired of all the posts about how much money people have and how they should save it for that. For those who don’t have any money saved it could be fun to start a contribution to a friend’s bank account and then add that to your friend’s.
1. Your wedding’s not that expensive. I know I said I diddly-weensy-my-little-way, but I really did. I just wish I had more than I had. I got married in the high season (fall) of 2007, so I had plenty of time to put away some extra cash. I also put that money toward a house, bought a used car, and put that money toward an even bigger house later in life (in the city where I live).
2. Friends and family. I promise I won’t post about how to spend someone else’ money on a first date or something like that. I promise. I just want to say that if you start a first date with a person and you know they have a goal in mind for their wedding, that’s awesome. I never thought I would say this, but it’s true.
3. Food.
